Should I convert my US currency to Canadian dollars? I am planning a trip to Niagara Falls, Canada. From past experience, I know that most merchants accept both US and Canadian currency. When the US dollar was worth more than the Canadian dollar I would always convert my currency. Now that each currency is worth about the same, should I still convert?

What are the hidden objects contained in the design of US currency? I have heard that there are suppose to be a number of different objects such as a snake hidden within the detailing on the back of a $1 bill of US Currency. Does anyone know what other objects are contained in the pattern detailing on the back of the currency? I have been able to find, what looks like two ships at the bottom of the $5 on the back side where the words FIVE DOLLARS is spelled out in the designs of the bushes below the Lincoln Memorial. I am just curious to know if anyone else has found anything

Why is the US Currency strengthening? In the last 2 weeks, while the stock market has crashed, the US dollar has gotten much stronger against many other major currencies (yen, pound, euro, etc) Why is that? Is it because their own markets are crashing?
What is the best way to buy and hold foreign currency in US? I am trying to buy and hold some foreign currency. I currently only have a checking account and an online savings account, both in US and for US dollar only. What is the best way (i.e., safe, inexpensive and easy) for me to buy and hold a particular foreign currency (e.g., Japanese Yen)? I am not looking to trade foreign currency very often. Just buy and hold. Any expert or experienced folk out there? Is the internet the only way to invest in foreign currencies?
US Currency note of $1000 from the year 1830 - worth? A friend of mine found a US Currency note value $1000 printed in the year 1830 from her grand father old stuff and very interested to know its present value. What are the stamped images on US Currency? I work at a bank and see a lot of money all day. One thing that I noticed is that there are often little stamped images on the bills, usually on the back. There are all kinds of little pictures and I was wondering if there is a specific significance... They just look like they were applied with an ordinary rubber stamp, a few cms in size.
Is US currency supposed to be multicolored now? My best friend is going on a trip to Philadelphia. She just got some US paper money and showed it to me. The print is mostly still green but some of the ink, print and paper is in shades like orange and green and red. Is that what US money looks like now? And they were all skinnier than I remember them being. I know it's a big official bank but I can't believe they look like that now. Are they real? When did they do this?
US Currency? How can we be OK with the words "In God We Trust" printed on our currency? Last time I checked we live in a nation which is supposed to have a separation of church from state. It's in our constitution. Whether or not you personally believe in a god is irrelevant. Our population is made up of people with diverse beliefs. Well I for one think it's time we removed the slogan. As an atheist I personally take offense to that the fact that my government ignoring the constitution and marginalizing my personal beliefs.
How to convert foreign coins to US currency? I have all these foreign coins, some of which I can't even identify. I'm not certain of their worth, origin, or age. I would like to exchange these coins for money I could use. Where could I go to do this? Would a bank convert my foreign coins? I'm not expecting them to be worth much, but even if they're only 10 cents each, I'd like to exchange them.
How does the US currency compare to the Brazilian Real.? I have seen that the American Dollar is worth 2.18 Brazilian Real. But I'm trying to figure out how much general items in Brazil cost. Like how much would you spend going to a nice restaurant in the city or buying drinks at clubs.
why is the US dollar so weak right now on the international currency exchange markets? For practically every single international currency, the US dollar is doing pathetically. It has dropped significantly in the last year compared to every major world currency - the Euro, the British Pound, the Chinese Yuan, the Indian Rupee. I like to travel, and this is really disturbing because it means that everything costs more just for me me just because I'm an American. It doesn't seem fair. What is the reason behind the terrible falling dollar? Is it simply that the American economy sucks right now? Or are there deeper reasons? Does Bush WANT the dollar to drop because he wants to grow US exports and discourage Americans from traveling because he thinks America is the best place in the world and he doesn't think there's any reason to leave and go other places?
US Currency Devaluation? I have been following closely the US currency and as everyone can see, the US currency has fallen against most major currency including the Euro, Yen, Renminbi and even the Canadian dollar. Until last week, I have also noticed that the US Dollar has fallen over 25 cents to the Mexican Peso. Is there any reason why?. I have some cash stored in Peso that I need to convert to US dollar but does anyone know how low the dollar will fall to the Peso. It was trading at US1=MXN11.1 until last week when it fell to US1=MXN10.78 Any currency broker and specialist in here?. Thank you. 4XTrader, are you saying it would be better for me to diverse some of my funds into another currency?. I have really been thinking about this. I think the US Dollar is going to fall even more and I have accounts in several other countries. But the Euro is already too high. I could convert some of my money in RMB.
Why is US currency Federal Reserve Notes rather than US Treasury Certificates? I have never read so much misinformation about the currency structure in the USA than I have on this board. So, I've got to ask this question. Why is US currency originating from a private banking system rather than the US Treasury? Anyone want to take a stab at this? Part two of this question. Whose interest would be served in eliminating the Federal Reserve System? The sound of crickets. Just as I suspected.
Marking, stamping, writting on US Currency? I know it's against the law to mark US currency, but some people still seem to do it. I am a registered user on WheresGeorge.com. I'm addicted to the web site, and I think it's interesting to find out where the money travels to. I know theres dollars out there marked with WheresGeorge.com on them. This is my question. Do you think some people marking US currency will become more of a problem later in the future? Do you think some people marking US currency is a problem now?

US currency & China? I've read that China is buying the US dollar in order to keep their own currency down. As the US dollar continues to fall won't this come back to bite China? What will they do with all the dollars in their reserve if they are worth less then when they bought them? I don't completely understand how this all works so someone enlighten me :)
US currency says on it "In God We Trust"...? US currency says on it "In God We Trust"...why then do we have courtroom judges? Doesnt it say in the bible "Thou shall not judge"? something to think about our judicial system huh?

Defacing US Currency Illegal? I had first heard that defacing any US currency was illegal, but then someone told me that you can deface your own money since it is your property you can do whatever you want with it and it is only illegal to recirculate any money that you deface. Who is right?
Canadian-US currency questing? I'm going to Montreal soon with my class and I was wondering if Canadian people would take American currency. I heard that US dollars have about the same value as Canadian bills so the shop owners might loose profit if they excepted American money. so yea.. answer?

Pictures of all US currency? Anyone have a link to pictures of Us currency? I know there are 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 500 dollar bills, but whats beyond that.
Banning Pennies as US Currency? According to 60 Minutes, they ressurrected a 20 years argument on the effect of eliminating pennies as US currency. http://60minutes.yahoo.com/segment/141/pennies We have seen arguments and comments, we would like you to explain in your own word why or why not.
Why does the US currency say "In God We Trust" on it if we're a secualr nation? The Constitution states that we have the freedom to express ourselves freely in the matter of religion (which includes expressing a lack of religious convictions) and that no state (and I'll remind you that the Federal Government is a state) may not establish any sort of an official religion. Isn't "In God We Trust" being imprinted on our currency a direct violation of the rights of those of us that do not believe in or follow a religion?
Given the fact the Official US God is currency (money), why do some people claim otherwise? In 1954, Congress made it official that the only God recognized by the US is currency. And, ordered the inscription, "In God We Trust" engraved on him to signify his deity. At the same time, included the words "under God" in the pledge to solidly establish his supremacy. How do Christians get around the prohibiiton against worshiping other Gods and graven (engraved) images? Do you not use US currency? Okay, how about that pledge that requires people to swear allegiance to this nation and the God under which it operates? Do you not say the pledge? Archer, you are so incorrect it's not worth rebuttal. The founding fathers were mostly atheists. Robert, what does that have to do with this question? There are statues of many "law givers" in the Supreme Court, but they are not official deities, they are decorations. just for U melrae. .. it was your inspiration... :-)
Do bars and restaurants take US currency? Someone I know went to Canada recently and said that bars and restaurants took her US money and gave her change back in Canadian currency. She went to Niagra Falls but I'm going to Montreal. I was wondering if that happened with her because Niagara Falls is so close to the border and if they'll do it in Montreal since it's a little further from the border. Thanks
I inherited a 10000 Bill from Brasil Thats how its spelt. I need help getting this to US currency and where? The Bottom of the Bill reads. "10000 Dez Mil Cruzados" With a picture of some Man looking through a microscope, thats on one side. When m'sia ask govt why fuel prices have to go up, govt will say,ARABS sells oil to M'sia in US currency T/F? This is the palace, m'sia price controllers will always say it affects m'sia's P&L accounts to support their neighbours' polygamy wifes, God no need money for example. What happen to our own oil and P&L accounts, are we importing oil or are we using m'sia own resources call oil? If we are importing do we have to pay US currency when we m'sia citizens are earning local RM$ currency?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axD0qTFKuKA Yes when m'sia govt do international trades for all export and import in US currency, but when you ask all citizens to pay oil accroding to US currency markets value, it sounds silly, because those who are earning RM$ will suffer if citizens are not earning US$ to pay US$ for purchases of fuel. If citizens are trading fuel from the ARAB market in US currency directly following the international ,arket, why do we need a m'sia govt to do international trades for m'sian country and set up P&L accounts or GDP growth for our country? Do you want citizens to feed the m'sia govt community with a price hike due to their population and family matters every year or m'sia govt community to pay pensions and all healthcare to all citizens of all races as shown in the western countries, where govt actually reduces burdens of their citizens? 1) Govt agrees to pollute Semenyih Dam will neuclear waste that seeps into the underground water heading towards the Semenyih Dam 2) Govt hikes petrol price to contra out our EPF savings and INterest to negative figure when petrol price were to follow US$ currency market per barrel and not RM$ ringgit malaysia currency even if citizens do not earn US$ currency 3) Some Msia govt politicians Doctorate are awarded qualifications, not studied and sit for exams in Universities, whenever there is a flu or disease, they will tremble in the fear and they will use guns kill instead of curing your animals into the graveyards and how do they approve drugs and medications for KKM (Health ministry), tell me 4) We do not get pensions allowances like in the west, west gives pensions to all elderly people irregardless of race & religion 5) Western govts buy insurance as long as the citizen has an I/C without deducting salaries from their citizens for all medical illnesses at all age range fr doctors A Parasite govt will hike prices every year and will never repeg currency or add gold bars waiting for foreign currency to fall that is all http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A64YWkpOvtQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAFz-NA0EFc how many blood does citizens' have??? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qm8uFIHBSDs Needs more blood money to fuel your car every year?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTqKuqrRc6c Good attempt answer by the1st person below. Ok if US currency slips down compared to international markets, RM$ Malaysian currency pegs higher not due to our currency upgrading, but US dollar falls at a lower value internationally. Why is the ringgit RM$ still struggling on fuel prices when the Japanese Yen stays strong? There is not much of a problem for Yen currency even if US$ sliding down slightly right because international trades is not just on one country itself?
Why: weak China currency good, weak US currency bad? Why is it that people claim that China and Japan deliberately undervalue their currencies so as to get an economic advantage -- but when the US Dollar is down, people think it's nothing but bad news for the US?
Can we have one world currency say universal(uni)dollar issued by world bank, like euro or US $ instead of dep? In the world, all the countries instead of depending upon these currencies (us dollar and sterling pount etc), world bank can introduce universal currency say uni-dollar. If it is possible, it may take long time to intoduce all over the world starting with international trade and by introducing higher denomination. Initially all the countries can link their currency with Uni dollar and gradually switch over to the world currency such as Uni- dollar.
US dollar currency PROFIT from overseas checking accounts? I have a new account in a foreign country (where the interest rates are 10-12%). However I have to wait to set up my account with them over the internet before i can view my standings. Is there any way i can figure out how much my US dollars would INCREASE by just holding in this account(converted:my US dollars = 10,000 of the local currency) . I don't have experience with the Forex market and i am not really interested in it. I would just like to make a profit by having this HIGH Interest Rate and this account in another market. How can i determine what amount i make from my deposit without visually having access to it? I can also buy and sell securities in this foreign market. Thank you. This firm is listed on the country stock exchange as a official member.am pretty sure they are not a front company
As the US dollar is about to Collapse, why is Australia allowing huge US dollar currency investors to buy $AUS The $AUS is about 90c US and yet the US dollar is worth less than 3 cents in the dollar (no gold backing it up). Australian money has gold backing it up - why allow the US to transfer their dud money to Australia so when their dollar crashes Australia will support their worthless money with our gold backed currency? http://www.lilithgallery.com/articles/2005/USeconomic_collapse.html http://goldprice.org/bob/2006/02/american-economic-collapse-2006.html http://www.rense.com/general69/econm.htm http://www.fdrs.org/american_economic_collapse.html It appears that the Australian Dollar is also not Gold Based - thankyou Frank Castle http://www.brumbywatchaustralia.com/Principality39.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_tender
How come so many people think that the US's currency is backed up by gold? Ever since the 1970's, the US decided not to back money up with gold. Therefore, it's not backed up with anything. Period! What are they teaching these kids in school today? Really! A kid told me that his teacher was "teaching economics" in his class today and she said that "gold and silver backs up the currency to make it worth something." Ahhh! I couldn't believe my ears. I know that we have gold reserves but what I am trying to say is that we don't make it a standard policy to back out currency with it, so we are not using it at all right now. I am not saying that we may never have to resort to it in the future. It's just there at our disposal if we need it.
Canadian / US currency? how much US dollars do u need for let's say 10 dollars i have no idea and im going to Canada soon i need to tell mom and dad that X US bucks = X canadian bucks
Australian Currency coins to US money.? My relatives are trying to send Australian money that is in the United States to us in Australia. The problem is that the the money is all in coins. Does anyone know of a bank or a company in the United States that will convert Australian Currency to US currency? The Australian currency is all coins. You can't send coins through the mail to Australia and most places will not convert coins to notes. We've tried most banks and other foreign exchange places but it doesn't work. Many Thanks!
Defacing US Currency Question? I want to start something where I would put a stamp on the US dollars. Is there a law against that? There is a site called wheresgeorge.com that puts stamps on dollar bills. Why aren't they being prosecuted. I read the law here: http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=browse_usc&docid=Cite:+18USC333 If you look, it specifically says: Whoever mutilates, cuts, defaces, disfigures, or perforates, or unites or cements together, or does any other thing to any bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt issued by any national banking association, or Federal Reserve bank, or the Federal Reserve System, with intent to render such bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt unfit to be reissued, Look at the last 4 words. Does that mean that I can stamp on it as long as it is not destroyed or something? Any lawyers in here have any opinions or thoughts? I really want to do this project but don't want to if it illegal. Thanks in advance.

How could the US currency collapse overnight, either realistically or unrealistically? Could a collapse similar to the 1929 one be achieved through a series of Enron type scandals or is the only thing that could cause such a collapse a natural disaster? What about OPEC. If it switched its trading from dollars to euros would this not persuade Asian countries to ask for their debt back? (American debt is huge at the moment). Basically is a similar situation to 1929 possible anymore or do you claim that a currency collapse will never again occur? And don't use things like 'terrorist attacks' or 'massive earthquake' i'm looking for financial or economical answers. Thanks!
