Bank Negara Malaysia - import / bringing in foreign currency into Malaysia?
What is the rulling when a person brings in foreign currency or money that is available or saved outside Malaysia. If there is any tax imposed how much and to what amount category according. Say how much tax when the amount is 100k, 1M, 5M, 10M or more than certain amount.

- as far as I know, you are welcomed by government to bring foreign currency as much as want as you want. there is no tax imposed by government.
- The Bank Negara rulings that.. allowed to carry into and out of the country any amount not exceeding RM1,000 per person and also export foreign currency not exceeding the equivalent of RM10,000 per person. Those who are carrying in excess of these - when entering or leaving the country - are required to obtain permission from the Controller of Foreign Exchange and declare in the Traveller’s Declaration Form the exact amount of Ringgit carried. Approval is usually given within one day of application No tax applied...
